Filename templates & tokens

Your naming convention, your rules. Templates are built visually, so there’s no syntax to memorize, and you see a live preview as you build.

Open Settings → File Naming. Three templates ship by default (Movies, TV Series, and Anime), each with its own ordered list of tokens. Drag a token in, drag it out, reorder it. The tokens a template can use, and what each one writes. The preview is the exact name the app gives the file:

TokenExample output
Movie TitleInception
Year2010
TMDB ID{tmdb-27205}
Series TitleBreaking Bad

Resolution1080p
SourceWEB-DL
QualityWEB-DL 1080p
Video Codecx265
Audio CodecDDP Atmos
HDRDV HDR10
Edition{edition-Extended}
Release GroupNTb

Quality is Source and Resolution together; use it in their place. Text in curly braces, such as {tmdb-27205} and {edition-Extended}, is written exactly as shown, because Plex, Jellyfin and Emby read it from the name.

The TMDB ID lets them match a title exactly: a film by its movie ID, a show or anime by its series ID. It is in the movie template by default, and you can add it to the TV and anime templates; remove it and the name leaves it out.

Resolution, Source, Quality, the codecs, HDR, Edition and Release Group are read from the release’s own name. Resolution and Source (or Quality in their place), the codecs and HDR placed side by side share one bracket, as in [1080p WEB-DL x265], and the release group follows with a hyphen, as in -NTb. A token the release name doesn’t state is left out along with its separator, so a name never ends in an empty bracket.
